Getting there
There are many ways to travel to the North Sea in Schleswig-Holstein: by car, by bus, or even by plane. The train is a quick and pleasant way to reach your destination. There are good connections on the “main line”, the Nord-Ostsee-Bahn from Hamburg via Heide and Husum to Westerland auf Sylt. If you want to have your car, you can bring it along on the car train that takes you directly from Niebüll across the narrow Hindenburgdamm through the tidal mudflats to Sylt. You can transfer to the islands from different ports. There are various possibilities, depending on whether you want to take your car, go by bike, or just on foot.
